Not everyone is affected by suicide but anyone can be affected by suicide. There is also a huge ripple effect.
An average of 135 people are impacted by each suicide death which means more than 800,000 people in the UK are affected by a suicide death every year.
For each suicide death, around 20 people make suicide attempts. Research suggests that most people who attempt to take their own lives do not want to die, they simply want to escape the intense mental or physical pain they are suffering. People in crisis often feel hopelessly trapped and need support through their crisis.
Take the Million Steps Challenge, feel good and do good by helping The Jordan Legacy work with those with lived experience of suicide, those already working in suicide prevention, governments, communities and workplaces to create hope through action and get the annual suicide death toll on a downward trend.
Having been in the blackest of black places, I know how phenomenally difficult it can be to ask for help when everything feels hopeless. Anything we can do to remove the stigma about talking about suicide saves lives. Steve, Danielle and Paul from the Jordan Legacy team are an inspiration to me and I want to do my little bit to help them.
I will be accompanied on my million steps by the awesome Benson (he is the good looking one on my profile picture) and we will keep you informed along the way as to how we are doing.
DAY ONE: First day done and a good 14362 steps under the belt.
"Congratulations on this achievement! Raising funds was just the first step or two, the whole journey, according to me, managed to achieve something even bigger: inspire others."

"Great work, Benson. Don't make the big fella who makes funny playful noises and feeds you feel bad that you'll be doing doing double the steps, what with your extra legs"
